A sanitary pump is widely used in dairy processing for transferring milk, whey, cream, and other low-viscosity liquids. A sanitary centrifugal pump suits continuous transfer when flow, head, material, seal, and CIP requirements are matched. The YUY-L series features SUS304 or SUS316L wetted parts and covers capacities from 1 to 500 T.
Why Dairy Processing Needs Hygienic Pumps
Dairy products require controlled sanitation throughout processing. Sanitary pumps use cleanable product-contact surfaces, corrosion-resistant materials, suitable seals, and internal geometry that limits residue retention.
Pump performance also depends on the complete piping system, including inlet layout, valves, temperature, pressure, and CIP conditions.
How a Sanitary Centrifugal Pump Works
A sanitary centrifugal pump uses an impeller to convert motor power into fluid velocity and pressure. This makes it suitable for continuous transfer of milk, cream, whey, water, and similar liquids.
The YUY-L series uses an open impeller and SUS304 or SUS316L stainless steel for wetted components. Product-contact surfaces are polished for hygienic processing.

Material and Seal Selection
SUS304 suits many general dairy applications, while SUS316L offers higher corrosion resistance for demanding conditions.
Seal material should match product characteristics, cleaning chemicals, pressure, and temperature. The YUY-L series lists EPDM for -10°C to +140°C and uses wash water for mechanical-seal protection.

Pump Sizing: Flow and Head Come First
A sanitary pump should be selected according to the actual operating point:
- 🔄 Flow rate: Required liquid volume per unit of time
- 📏 Head: Elevation and piping resistance
- ⚙️ Motor power: Matched to flow and head
- 🧪 Fluid properties: Viscosity and temperature
- 📊 Reference: 24 m³/h at 1.5 kW and 36 m³/h at 3 kW are listed configurations
Actual selection should consider the complete piping system rather than motor power alone.
Inlet Piping and CIP
The inlet pipe should provide stable liquid flow with limited resistance. The inlet diameter should match or exceed the pump inlet, with a suitable straight section before the pump.
CIP performance depends on flow velocity, cleaning temperature, chemical concentration, circulation time, and drainage. The pump and piping should therefore be evaluated as one cleaning circuit.

- Self-priming requirements
The YUY-L configuration is designed for horizontal liquid transfer and is not self-priming. A self-priming hygienic pump should be selected where suction lift is required.

Motor:
1、Depending on the configuration, the pump mainly adopts "ABB'' brand high-efficiency M2BAX three-phase AC motor. The pump is designed and manufactured according to IEC60034.IE60072,conforming to CE marking requirements.
2、The explosion-proof motor is available to meet the needs in different applications.
3、With excellent electric performance, low noise and low vibration, the motor is designed to have standard protection grade of IP55 and insulation grade of grade F.
4、Frequency: 50Hz/60Hz

Connection ways of pump inlet and outlet
Energy loss of liquids may occur in the pipe. The loss falIs into friction loss and local resistance loss. The smoother the pipe is, the lower the friction loss is. The fewer the bend is, the lower the pipe diameter change is, and the lower the local resistance loss is. Therefore, try not to use rough pipes for connection, and avoid using the method of rapid pipe changes during the connection.

When the pump runs under small flow, the efficiency is very low, and the energy consumed makes the liquid temperature rise rapidly. When the pump runs under small flow, the return flow that passes the impeller interval will increase, causing increased damage of pump pressure pulse, vibration, noise, etc. Therefore, it is better that the connected pipe inlet diameter should be more than or equal to the designed inlet diameter. In order to ensure that the pump runs more stably, it is necessary to connect with a long straight pipe at the pump inlet, with its length 5-10 times longer than the pipe diameter.
